As a responsible equity investor in the public sector infrastructure market both in the United Kingdom and overseas, John Laing is in a unique position to influence its construction and business services partners to consider the social, economic and environmental impacts associated with the projects in which it is engaged and to take action to minimise adverse impacts and to identify opportunities to bring about improvements to the community and the local environment. This process involves direct engagement with community representatives, local authorities and third sector agencies.
We recognise that as a provider of infrastructure and services, our customers need to have confidence in the way services and goods are procured so as to ensure they are sustainable and are also being delivered to the agreed high standard. This requires transparency and access to information and we welcome open engagement with our clients to ensure they are satisfied with the delivery of services and goods. John Laing holds certification to ISO 9001:2000 to ensure the effective management of our operations from business development through to operations.
Our suppliers are selected using a procurement process which allows us to better manage the risks that may arise from the supply chain in relation to both goods and services. We also work very closely with our main construction and business stakeholders to better understand their CR drivers in order that we can effectively work together on key CR issues where they are aligned.
