John Laing has been a long term supporter of Homeless Link an organisation providing central support for the day centres working with homeless people accross the UK. John Laing enables the resource centre to target activities to ten centres each year, where they have identified that the support will ensure the greatest value.
Homeless Link have been able to reach every one of the known 214 day centres in England by post and the majority by email to publicise good practice esources and information. Ten day centres received in-depth support, improving the ability to review and improve their services and to improve their financial sustainability. Homeless link has also piloted seminars and groups as a peer-led approach to developing the sector, again with highly positive feedback.
Our long term involvement with Homeless Link demonstrates our partnering ethos. Together over the past fifteen years as Homeless Link has developed to become recognised as the national advisory organisation for all homeless charities so has our depth of knowledge of the issues creating homelessness and the solutions. This information is valuable to us in many areas of our business, from re-housing of formerly homeless people on the social housing estates we manage, to providing the homeless with access to primary care in our new health centres. The more in-depth our understanding of underlying social issues, the more we can integrate solutions which enable equal access to services in all our facilities.
This project and others like it demonstrate John Laing's heritage and understanding of the issues creating problems and the solutions required to overcome the barriers.
Supporting new initiatives demonstrates our confidence that we understand what will work and that this provides us with the ability to recognise new initiatives that will improve the delivery of services and raise aspirations.
