Accreditations
John Laing’s Integrated Management System covers Quality, Environment, Health and Safety.
- To demonstrate our commitment to all three aspects we are accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
- All John Laing sites are subject to both internal and external audits on a regular basis. Our external auditor, LRQA carries out more in-depth visits every three years to ensure our systems are robust.
- John Laing has systems in place that comply with the BS 25999 certification for Business Continuity Management and these will be subject to internal audit procedures to ensure compliance with the Standard.
RoSPA
As well as being a member of RoSPA, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, John Laing has recently been awarded Gold for the third consecutive year, this is a reflection of the management system we operate, our employee engagement and our accident/incident rate.
Business in the Community
Business in the Community (BITC) has more than 850 companies in its membership, John Laing has supported this unique movement since its inception 26 years ago. Our commitment to improving our positive impact on society has received great recognition including obtaining the Silver Big Tick Award for the Company's continued support of Trafford Hall, attainment of the CommunityMark and Gold awards in the BITC Index for the last two years
CommunityMark
Eighteen months ago John Laing achieved the CommunityMark alongside BSkyB, Cadbury UK, EDF Energy, Linklaters, Liverpool FC, Microsoft UK, The Midcounties Co-operative and Allsigns Group.
- There are now a total of 38 companies who have reached the CommunityMark standard.
- The CommunityMark is a national standard of excellence in community investment, which was first launched in 2008 and endorsed by Prime Minister at the time, Gordon Brown, and HRH Prince of Wales.
- The award is made for a period of three years.
- We review our Community Programme on a quarterly basis.
Corporate Responsibility Index
John Laing has been awarded Gold in the BITC Index for the period 2010/11, this is the second year in succession that we have reached the Gold standard of the Corporate Responsibility Index. This is an excellent result for us and reflects all of the good work being done by John Laing and its' employees.

The Associated Parliamentary Corporate Responsibility Group
John Laing is a member of the Associated Parliamentary Corporate Responsibility Group whose purpose is to promote debate and understanding of corporate social responsibility within Parliament. It seeks to achieve this by promoting an exchange of views between Parliamentarians and people with an active interest in corporate responsibility. David Micciche, Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability Director attends the meetings on behalf of John Laing.
The Prince's Trust Construction and Business Services Leadership Group
As patrons of the Prince's Trust Construction and Business Services Leadership Group consequently the Get into Construction Scheme, John Laing looks to consistently engage its' employees to become involved with the activities of the Prince's Trust.
