Company History

The John Laing group has made dramatic changes to the shape and strategy of its business since 2001, when it underwent a restructuring. These have included the disposal of activities such as contracting, house-building, property and rail franchises, all regarded as non-core for a new strategic focus on investment in social and transport infrastructure assets for the public sector.

In order to successfully reposition the business, John Laing has nonetheless capitalised upon its considerable heritage and strong reputation within the UK building market. It has retained key management skills and experience, and built upon the kind of project management skills that in the years since its foundation, established the group's profile as one of the leading providers of infrastructure in the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.
