John Laing,as part of a consortium includingIndian construction and infrastructure development companies, HCC and Sadbhav Engineering,achieved financial close onin March 2010 to reconstruct and widen the NH3Road in the state ofMaharashtra, Indiafrom the Madhya Pradesh/Maharashtra Border to Dhule.
The project will widen a 89km stretch of the NH3 fromtwo to four lanes basedon a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) real toll scheme.
The project has a concession period of 18 years, which includes a 30 month construction period, and is being developed by Dhule Palesner Tollway Limited, a special purpose companythat will develop the project. Construction works are currently ahead of schedule.
The NH3 Road is part of the National Highway Development Programme Phase III-A which consists of widening and strengthening 4,000 km of National Highways in Indiaon a DBFOT basis.
