Kingston Hospital

The £25 million Kingston Hospital project, provided by Prime Care Solutions Ltd, a consortium between John Laing and the Costain Group, has delivered a modern building with high specification clinical facilities in a comfortable environment to serve the Kingston community.

The new facility includes new gynaecology wards to replace those in the hospital’s Roehampton Wing, a new pre-operative assessment area and emergency gynaecology assessment unit, a modern well-equipped department for physiotherapy services, an integrated education and training centre and library. It provides purpose built, site-wide kitchen and dining facilities for staff, patients and visitors.

The project was completed in 2007 and is part of a site-wide strategy to upgrade the hospital which includes building a day nursery and William Rous Cancer Unit.  The hospital now has a total of 601 beds, almost 100 more than previously.

As well as the new build the project also entails the operation of site-wide soft facilities management and hard facilities management to the new buildings. This will be provided by ISS Mediclean for Soft FM services and Parsons Brinkerhoff for Hard FM.

John Laing has been awarded a Highly Commended Award for 'Best Operational Health Scheme' 2008 by Public:Private Finance for this project.
