Kenilworth Railway Station

Warwickshire County Council have an aspiration to provide a new railway station at Kenilworth, a medium-sized provincial town situated between Coventry and Leamington Spa, through which Arriva CrossCountry train services between Manchester to Bournemouth currently travel without stopping.

John Laing has been appointed as preferred development partner to progress the concept of a station at  this location within the railway. The evolution of our involvement is in three phases:

1. Scheme development (all costs funded by Council) - for the next twelve months we will be working with our partners developing  train service options, understanding timetable constraints, honing the business case for the facility and getting support from train companies and Network Rail;

2. Development Agreement with Council outlining the obligations for finalising the commercial package - the Council to assemble land, achieve planning consent and obtain grant funding; John Laing to finalise the operating contracts and guarantees, procure a construction contractor and finalise investment parameters; and then

3. At Financial Close, expected in June 2011, John Laing will commit to delivering the facility and operating it for twenty years as an investor.
